January Cards
Hi Everyone,
Here are some new birthday and thinking of your cards that I made to continue to send to military personnel. I decided to skip Valentine’s Day since I don’t have any great ideas for using hearts. I figured there is a demand for Birthday and other generic cards all year round.
If you would like to contribute cards for the military who are stationed overseas, Operation Write Home is a great organization to get involved with. They supply cards for those who are stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other bases around the world so they can keep in touch with their loved ones in the States. It’s amazing how many people are hearing about this organization and getting involved. From the thank you letters that I read from the servicemen and women, they are very grateful that we are thinking of them while they are away.
Here are a few I made recently:
November Cards
Hello Everyone,
Christmas cards were due in at the beginning of the month, but I couldn’t resist making one more. But now I’ve started to make Birthday cards. Of course, people have birthdays even in December, so there is always a need for these. Anyway, I took a design that I used for Christmas and made it into a birthday card–here’s a comparison. Hope you like them!
More Cupcake Cards
Hello Everyone,
Last night OperationWriteHome put out an APB for a hero that had returned from the Middle East and was involved in a 27 car pile up. She left her car to help others who were hurt in the accident, since she had training, and was then hit herself by a truck. The rest of the story is not good. So, in order to cheer her up and help her thank those who have helped her since this accident, we were asked to create a few cheerful cards for her. These cupcake cards seemed like they would cheer her up, so I was happy to make them.
Cupcake Card
My daughter, Colleen, just loves anything cupcake. She loves to make them, decorate them, scrapbook them, make them into cards…..everything can be cupcakes in her world. So I found this set of cupcake stamps and scrap lifted the design from a YouTube video, and here is the final product:
The stamps are from Basic Grey and the cardstock is from Joann’s. The video on YouTube is part of the Finally Friday series.
Finally, the Christmas cards for OperationWriteHome are due to be mailed this weekend, so I’m winding down on making these. I did some very simple ones the last few days, with the goal being quantity as opposed to my usual outstanding quality!! Here are a few of them, and you’ll probably agree, they are very simple:
Hi Everyone,
I am spending this last week of October finishing up Christmas cards for the military people who are deployed around the world. This organization is now OperationWrite Home (they just changed their name from cardsforheroes.) Last week I sent a box of 132 cards that my students made on their lunch hour, and this week I’m working at filling up another box and getting it mailed by Saturday morning. So I really haven’t spent much time with new designs, just making lots and lots of my tried and true designs. But here is a card that I scrap lifted from a video on YouTube.
Here is a card using the exact same layout, but this time I used Apricot Appeal ink and tried to give it a look of fall. It’s amanzing how different it looks:

September Cards
This month I concentrated on Christmas cards, since they need to be ready by the end of October. But, of course, birthday cards are always in demand, so I made a few of those, too.
